Tracks

Tracks are music projects in Rebounce. Each track holds all versions of a song — from your first rough mix to the final master. As you iterate and upload new mixes, each one becomes a new version in the same track, keeping your project history organized.

Creating a track

Tracks live inside artists. Before creating a track, make sure you've created an artist in your workspace.

To create a new track:

  1. Open the artist's tracks page
  2. Click "New track" or drag and drop an audio file
  3. Upload a WAV or MP3 file
  4. Your track is created with the first version (v1)

The track name is automatically pulled from the file name, but you can change it later in the metadata section.

Managing versions

Each track contains multiple versions — different takes or revisions of your audio file. Versions are automatically numbered (v1, v2, v3) with the latest shown first.

When you're ready to share a new mix, click "New version" and upload your audio file. You can optionally add a note describing what changed, like "Fixed vocal level in chorus" or "Added drum reverb."

See the versions documentation for details on uploading, playback, feedback, and managing individual versions.

Sharing a track

You can invite collaborators to view, listen, and comment on specific tracks — even if they're not part of your workspace.

Inviting collaborators outside your workspace

  1. Open the track
  2. Click "Share track"
  3. Enter the collaborator's email address
  4. Send the invitation

They'll receive an email with a link to access the track. Once they join, they can:

  • Listen to all versions
  • Leave time-stamped comments
  • View metadata and track notes
  • See who else is collaborating

Collaborators cannot delete the track, edit metadata, or upload new versions unless they're also members of your workspace.

Track metadata

Metadata helps you organize track details and prepare files for distribution. All metadata fields are optional but useful for keeping things organized.

Available metadata fields

  • Title — track name (editable)
  • Artist — inherited from the parent artist
  • Artwork — upload or replace track cover art (PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG)
  • Year — release or recording year
  • BPM — beats per minute
  • Key — musical key (e.g., C# minor)
  • ISRC — International Standard Recording Code
  • Lyrics — full lyrics or notes

Editing metadata

  1. Open the track
  2. Go to the "Metadata" tab
  3. Click any field to edit it
  4. Changes are saved automatically

You can also download or replace the track artwork from this tab. If you upload artwork, it's displayed on the track list page and in the player.

Downloading artwork

You can download track artwork in its original size or resize it to custom dimensions.

To download artwork:

  1. Open the track
  2. Go to the "Metadata" tab
  3. Click the download button on the artwork
  4. Choose "Original size" or select a custom resolution

Custom size options include three presets: 3000×3000, 1400×1400, and 500×500 pixels. You can also enter specific dimensions manually.

Aspect ratio is locked by default to prevent distortion. The downloaded file is named Artwork – [Song Name] – [Artist Name] – [Resolution].[extension] for easy identification.

Embedding metadata in audio files

When you download a version from Rebounce, all track metadata is automatically embedded into the audio file. This includes artist name, track title, year, BPM, key, ISRC, lyrics, and artwork — everything needed for distribution without manual tagging.

Metadata embedding works for MP3, WAV, and FLAC downloads. See downloading versions for details.

Track notes

Track notes are a collaborative rich-text editor where you and your team can capture ideas, lyrics, production notes, or anything else related to the track.

Notes are shared with all collaborators and update in real-time, making them useful for:

  • Brainstorming production ideas
  • Tracking mixing decisions
  • Storing reference links or inspiration
  • Documenting arrangement changes

To access notes:

  1. Open the track
  2. Go to the "Notes" tab
  3. Start typing

Notes are separate from version-specific comments, so they're a good place for high-level ideas that apply to the whole project.

Deleting a track

Deleting a track removes all versions, comments, and metadata permanently. This action cannot be undone.

To delete a track:

  1. Open the track
  2. Click "Delete track"
  3. Type "DELETE TRACK" to confirm
  4. Click "Delete"

Only workspace members with access to the artist can delete tracks. Track collaborators cannot delete.

Tips

Name tracks clearly

Use descriptive names that make it easy to find tracks later. Instead of "Track 1" or "New Song," use something like "Summer Nights (Demo)" or "Client Mix – Version A."

Fill in metadata early

Add BPM, key, and ISRC as you go. It makes distribution smoother and helps you stay organized across multiple projects.

Use track notes for big-picture ideas

Track notes are perfect for production direction, arrangement ideas, or reference links. Use version comments for specific feedback on individual mixes.

Keep your workspace organized

Create separate tracks for different versions of a song (like "Radio Edit" vs "Extended Mix") rather than mixing unrelated takes in one track.
